October 5, 2011 Rejected Book Plot #188
RIP Playboy Club
As the fall season’s first causality of the TV war in the 2011-2012 season, Hugh Hefner wasn’t sure what to make of his sure-fire “hit” The Playboy Club being cancelled after just three underwhelming episodes. He wasn’t sure because Hugh (I call him Hugh… we’re close) ((we’re not close)) (((I went to college))) didn’t even know there was a TV show loosely based on his life. After three hours of trying to explain the plot of the show whilst in my undies, I realized what most of Americans realized long before the first episode even aired: why?
RIP Playboy Club is the story of murder, mischief and most importantly how to win at Monopoly. Because all those things would be infinitely better source material than a network TV show trying to ride the Mad Men popularity wave while throwing in the intrigue of Playboy Bunnies but in a really terrible way that isn’t relatable or sexy in any way. Also, I never watched The Playboy Club.
Up next, Free Agents. (calling it now!)
