Dance ‘Till the Morning Light

In the future, long after match.com and eHarmony fail to match potential mates together, society will be forced together through town-wide dance marathons. With random hook-ups and set-ups outlawed, the only place in town to meet a potential spouse is the annual dance-a-thon. Clubville outlawed unchaperoned meetings after the great divorce of 2172 where the mayor and his wife had the nastiest divorce the millennium had ever seen, the effects of it were so great that anyone in a 1,000 mile radius filed for divorce within six months. Deciding there had to be a better way to bring spouses together than just chance, Clubville decided to segregate the town by men, women and marrieds. Once a year all of the singles in town meet in the Rec Hall and they don’t leave until they’ve found a mate. Seeing as this was the only time a year you can legally meet a member of the opposite sex, it is important to dance with as many suitors as possible until the sun comes up and it is time to settle or wait another year. Sure, there were free-love rebels but you would not want to be caught with them or face banishment and ridicule of Hester Prynne proportions.

Dance ‘Till the Morning Light is a tale of one town taking the skyrocketing divorce rates into their own feet. “The quickest way to a man’s heart is his feet…on the dancefloor.” -Clubville’s town charter motto.
